Recurring transactions
Recurring transactions allow you to automate repeated payments using a stored payment method.
They are typically used for subscriptions, memberships, or usage-based billing models where the customer gives consent for future, repeated charges.
Supported payment methods
Recurring payments are supported by the following payment methods:
- Cards: Visa, Mastercard, Cartes Bancaires
- Digital wallets: Apple Pay, Google Pay, MobilePay, MB Way, Satispay
- Bank payments: SEPA Direct Debit
The following payment methods do not support recurring payments natively, but can be combined with SEPA Direct Debit to schedule recurring payments:
- iDEAL
- SEPA Credit Transfer
- EPS
- Express Überweisung
In these hybrid setups:
- The initial transaction is processed using the customer’s chosen payment method (for example, iDEAL or EPS).
- At the same time, the customer gives consent for recurring charges.
- All subsequent transactions are then processed via SEPA Direct Debit rails.
Please reach out to our support team or your account representative to enable recurring setups and SEPA Direct Debit combinations.
Key points
- Recurring transactions can only be processed after active customer consent has been obtained.
- Sensitive card or payment data is never handled by you. finby securely stores the credentials and returns a unique payment reference (such as a card reference or mandate ID) for reuse.
- Network tokenization is used internally by finby for eligible cards and wallets to help keep payment credentials valid and improve authorization performance, even when cards are reissued by the customer’s bank.
